La Mata, a 2300 metres long and over 40 metres wide beach, is located at the Torrevieja’s district of Torrelamata. To the south it adjoins the Cape Cervera, and to the north it delimits the area of La Mata Tower, which has given its name to this district.
It has a really long esplanade which runs all along the beach, where you can visit many chiringuitos and restaurants.
At the other side of the beach we can find a wide sand dunes area which are part of the “Parque del Molino del agua” –the waterwheel park-, and where you can find an original and highly recommended ship-shaped restaurant, the Queen Mississippi.
You can go to this beach by bus (LINE A).
The salvage service of this beach is separated in 3 areas:
La Mata Beach – town, with 3 surveillance towers, 3 lifeguards right on the seafront and a first aid station.
La Mata Beach – Europeos, with 4 surveillance towers, 5 lifeguards right on the seafront and a first aid station.
La Mata Beach – Dulce, with 4 surveillance towers, 5 lifeguards right on the seafront and a first aid station.
Prizes obtained: Qualitur, ISO 14000 on environmental management, quality ISO 9000 and Ecoplayas.

Torrevieja cuenta con 4 grandes playas ademas de calas y piscinas naturales.
Torrevieja cuenta con magníficas playas a lo largo de todo su litoral, todas ellas, con un oleaje tranquilo para disfrutar de un rato de relax, acompañado de numerosos servicios, como restaurantes, cafeterías y tiendas de regalos.
Todas las playas disponen de juegos lúdicos, vigilancia, puestos de información, bandera con el estado de la mar, lavapies y acceso para minusválidos. Además desde la Playa de los Naúfragos, al sur, hasta la Playa de La Mata, al norte, se puede pasear a traves de un gran paseo marítimo.
Las playas de Torrevieja, tienen una buena accesibilidad y están perfectamente indicadas.
Son de arena blanca y fina con señalización de los servicios que poseen como duchas, lavapiés, pasarelas, juegos infantiles, servicio de socorro, vigilancia, seguridad, y áreas especiales de relax.
Es recomendable que cuando vaya a las playas evite llevar objetos de valor (móviles, joyas, dinero en exceso…) ya que cuando decide refrescarse en el agua no hay taquillas y deberá dejarlo sin ninguna vigilancia en la arena.
