The #YoSoyTorrevieja movement sponsored by Habaneras Shopping Centre makes it possible for customers to dive into the reality of our oceans

The ‘Shark Patrol’ at Habaneras continues its fun educational workshops by offering a virtual experience that gives customers a look at the current situation of our seabed.

Thanks to its #YoSoyTorrevieja movement, Habaneras Shopping Centre, managed by JLL, has made significant strides in increasing public awareness and in cleaning up our beaches, seas and oceans. It is a summer-long commitment through different proposals and activities.

This initiative by Habaneras has driven many of the citizens of Torrevieja and its visitors to participate in this important cause, collaborating in clean-up campaigns on our beaches and collecting large amounts of plastics and waste. Thus far, more than 140kg of plastic waste has been deposited in the large white shark sculpture at the shopping centre. This July, customers will also have the opportunity to continue to participate in the bike raffle and little ones can continue to take part in the fun and educational ‘Patrol Shark’ eco-workshops and drawing contest to win one of the shark plush-toy mascots of this campaign.

In addition, the ‘Shark Patrol’ will also be on the beaches of Torrevieja every Friday this summer, just like it was on La Mata beach on 12 July, handing out bags for the collection of plastic waste.

Conscious of the equal importance of beach clean-ups and awareness campaigns, this July Habaneras has prepared an innovative virtual reality experience for its customers, giving them a glimpse of the consequences of the irresponsible use of plastics and their impact on the biodiversity of our seas, putting many species in serious danger of extinction.

During this underwater trip, Habaneras will invite its customers to experience the feeling of being submerged in the ocean, discovering its spectacular flora and fauna and coming into contact with pufferfish, turtles, starfish and many other species that are, unfortunately, seriously threatened by the amount of litter in our oceans. Customers can also help preserve the ocean by collecting all of the waste that they encounter during the experience.

Habaneras Shopping Centre aims to make its customers aware of the importance of safeguarding the biodiversity of the sea and caring for our beaches.

Because we are all a part of Torrevieja, #YosoyTorrevieja And you?
