SUMMARY:EXHIBITION: “DIOSIDADES” -THE ORIGINS OF HOLY WEEK IN TORREVIEJA
DESCRIPTION:\nAs if it were a procession, this exhibition invites those who visit it to take a tour of a large part of the artistic, cultural and historical heritage of the fifteen brotherhoods that make up the Junta Mayor de Cofradías de Torrevieja.\n\nFrom April 12 to May 30, 2025\n\nThe exhibition includes pieces on loan from the Church of the Immaculate Conception, such as the ancient Christ of the Flagellation; the brotherhoods themselves, such as the old suit of Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores dating from the first third of the twentieth century, which was embroidered by Antoñita Barceló and saved by the Moscardó family during the Civil War, as well as private collections.  \n\nIn addition, it shows the sculptor’s bench of the Blanco brothers and currently used by the artist Víctor García Villalgordo, as an example of the transition of the past and contemporary history of Holy Week in Torrevieja and from which sculptures such as the Holy Sepulchre and Our Lady of Sorrows, as well as the Holy Supper and María Santísima de la Victoria or María Santísima del Silencio have emerged.\n\nThese are just some of the more than 320 objects including sculptures, thrones, busts, carvings, skirts, tunics, banners, axes, vestas, processional marches, lanterns, ornaments, medals and prints that Segarra and Montesinos have identified, catalogued and exhibited in the exhibition.
