DESCRIPTION:\nFrom July 19 to 25, 2026, the 72nd International Habaneras and Polyphony Contest of Torrevieja will be held, one of the most emblematic cultural events on the international choral scene.\n\nThe Municipal Theatre of Torrevieja hosts the most important cultural event in the city, in which choirs from Europe, America and Asia will participate, competing and performing both habaneras – a genre of Cuban roots deeply rooted in the city – and polyphonic works of great vocal richness.\n\nPROGRAM 72ND INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION OF HABANERAS AND POLYPHONY\n\nFIRST EVENING (SUNDAY, JULY 19)\n\nOPENING GALA\n\nOpening ceremony of the event with the participation of:\n\n\nTorrevieja Musical Union\n\n\n\nSymphony Choir of the Municipal Choral School of Torrevieja\n\n\n\nWith the special performance of the soprano Ainhoa Arteta, officially starting the week of the contest.\n\n\nSECOND EVENING (MONDAY, JULY 20)\n\nCHORAL GALA – PERFORMANCE BY LOCAL CHOIRS\n\nParticipation of the choral groups of Torrevieja:\n\n\nChoir and Orchestra Maestro Ricardo Lafuente\n\n\n\nJosé Hódar Choral Mass\n\n\n\nOrfeón de Torrevieja Mario Bustillo\n\n\n\nManuel Barberá Choral Group\n\n\n\nMaestro Casanovas Choir\n\n\nTHIRD EVENING (TUESDAY, JULY 21)\n\nCOMPETITION PHASE\n\nFirst day of the competition with the participation of international guest choirs, performing habanera obligada, habaneras libres and polyphonic works:\n\n\nRiga Technical University Mixed Choir “Vivere” (Latvia)\n\n\n\nAnchorus Polyphonic Choir (Turkey)\n\n\n\nVocal Ensemble Sorcery (Chile)\n\n\n\nBeijing Wuzi Riparian Choir (China)\n\n\nFOURTH EVENING (WEDNESDAY, JULY 22)\n\nCOMPETITION PHASE\n\n\nPortland Phoenix Chamber Choir (United States)\n\n\n\nUDLAP Chamber Choir (Mexico)\n\n\n\nMixed Choir “Viva” (Slovenia)\n\n\n\nAdministratio Choir (Indonesia)\n\n\nFIFTH EVENING (THURSDAY, JULY 23)\n\nCOMPETITION PHASE\n\nThird day of the contest with the participation of the rest of the selected international choirs to complete the 15 official groups of the contest.\n\nSIXTH EVENING (FRIDAY, JULY 24)\n\nCOMPETITION PHASE\n\nLast day of competition with the remaining choirs and closing of the performances of the contest.\n\nSEVENTH EVENING (SATURDAY, JULY 25)\n\nGRAND CHORAL GALA AND AWARDS CEREMONY\n\nThe closing gala will offer a selection of performances by the choirs highlighted by the jury. Subsequently, the decision of the contest will be made public and the awards ceremony will take place, ending with the traditional common singing of the obligatory work. \n\nTICKET AND SEASON TICKET SALES\n\nTickets and subscriptions are available at the theatre box office.\n\n\nGeneral pass (7 days): 50 €\n\n\n\nPensioners’ pass: 25 €\n\n\n\nGeneral admission (competition evenings): €8\n\n\n\nAdmission for pensioners: 4 €\n\n\nBox office hours:During the days of the Contest, the box office will remain open from: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. / 6:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
