{"id":119771,"date":"2024-09-09T19:37:53","date_gmt":"2024-09-09T17:37:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/torrevieja.com\/events\/xvi-conference-cycle-2024-torrevieja-and-the-sea\/"},"modified":"2024-09-14T17:03:46","modified_gmt":"2024-09-14T15:03:46","slug":"xvi-conference-cycle-2024-torrevieja-and-the-sea","status":"publish","type":"mec-events","link":"https:\/\/torrevieja.com\/en\/events\/xvi-conference-cycle-2024-torrevieja-and-the-sea\/","title":{"rendered":"XVI CONFERENCE CYCLE 2024 &#8220;TORREVIEJA AND THE SEA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Lecture: &#8220;Pirates and shipwrecks&#8221;&#8230;. come and learn about Torrevieja&#8217;s historical relationship with the sea.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center has-large-font-size\">The Ars Creatio Cultural Association celebrates the XVI edition of the conference cycle &#8220;Torrevieja and the Sea&#8221;.  <\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The event will feature two keynote conferences:<\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Friday, September 20<\/strong>: Luis Miguel P\u00e9rez Ad\u00e1n, official chronicler of Cartagena, will offer a talk entitled <strong>&#8220;Torrevieja and the shipwreck of the Sirio&#8221;.<\/strong>\nIn this lecture, he will explore the details of the shipwreck of the Sirio, an Italian ocean liner that sank in 1906 off the coast of Cape Palos (Cartagena), causing numerous fatalities. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Saturday, September 21<\/strong>: Ana Mel\u00e9ndez Zome\u00f1o, noted for her work in the dissemination of the history and cultural heritage of Torrevieja, will present the conference <strong>&#8220;Pirates in Cap Cerver. Centuries XIV to XVI&#8221;.<\/strong>\nIn this talk, he will address the history of piracy in the area during those centuries. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Both events will take place at 8:00 p.m. at the Casino de Torrevieja.\nAdmission will be free until full capacity is reached.\nIt is an excellent opportunity for those interested
