Google has created an Emergency Relief Fund to support the media around the world.

The Emergency Aid Fund for Journalists (JERF) created by Google, will finance a businessman in Torrevieja with $5,000.

This fund seeks to support local media around the world.

The Google News proposal received more than 12,000 requests from more than 100 different countries.

In early April, Google announced the creation of an Emergency Relief Fund to support the global media.

Richard Gingras, vice president of news for Google, noted that local news has become even more vital in limiting the spread of COVID-19.

Many small local newsrooms are faced with the difficult choice of massive staff cuts, or even closure.

It is the first time that a Torrevieja company has received financing from Google.

“The Google News Initiative was set up to deliver urgent aid to thousands of small, medium and large local media worldwide,” wrote Gingras.

The company Torrevieja.com will receive a grant from Google for $5,000.

Today we have received the news that Google will give financial aid to the company Torrevieja.com, established 24 years ago in September 1996 by its current CEO Pablo Martínez.

In the words of Pablo Martínez, these funds will be destined to be used in investment in equipment, training and development of new ideas for the local sector, mainly in the hotel and leisure sector.

Torrevieja.com has 34,000 users , and also consists of 8 collaborators of different nationalities and professions who are part of this team.
