We found ourselves on a sailboat in Las Palmas on Gran Canaria in 2017.\u00a0 ‘Sigi” was our host and he is from Iceland.\u00a0 We asked him, “why Spain?”<\/strong> His response, “Lifestyle.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that is one reason we came here in 2018, bought a flat in Torrevieja and never left.\u00a0 Lifestyle. It is a good life here.\u00a0 <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We have always enjoyed eating out, especially lunch.\u00a0 Here in Spain lunch is a multiple course experience and there are hundreds of places to choose from in Torrevieja.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rincon de Andres<\/strong> is a restaurant that we always return to.\u00a0 We know what to expect.\u00a0 Good food, with a hospitable owner that told me on our first visit “your Spanish is very good”, that made me feel nice. His wife is in the kitchen.\u00a0 The food is simple and delicious and it is well prepared with quality ingredients. Let’s begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First off the menu del dia options are plentiful. You could likely come here with a large group and most everyone will find something that works for their palette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meal begins with the typical Ensalada Mixta<\/em>. Before moving to Spain I never had corn on my salad, now it is almost a requirement.  I love the salads here in Spain, fresh vegetables, olives and just some EVOO and vinegar.  On our most recent visit they were offering a new kind of salad, a mixture of tomato, tuna, hard egg and olives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have some favorite starter dishes. Obviously these photos are from multiple visits.  Terri-Lynn loves the Alcachofas Con Jamon<\/em> (artichokes with ham).  It is delicious I have to admit.  I will almost always start with the octopus, Pulpo Al Ajillo,<\/em> when available.  If you are really hungry you could start with the Spaghetti Bolonaso,<\/em> but do be prepared to feel full after your first course.  I do recommend it as it is one of my favorite Spaghettis in town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have had a variety of main dishes here too and below are a few of our favorites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emperador Salsa Verde<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Escalopenes Al Roquefort<\/em> and the Emperador Salsa Verde<\/em> are both from our first visit.  I was happy that the potato dish was not the typical Patatas Fritas or “French fries” that are often served with many of the dishes in Torrevieja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On another visit we had the Lomo A La Pimiento<\/em> and the Escalope Melaneso<\/em>.  The sides are always different and on this occasion we did have the Patatas Fritas and Zucchini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Menu Del Dia at Rincon de Andres comes with a half bottle of wine so a full bottle is brought to your table when two people are dining together.  The price is usually around $9 Euros so this is a great value in Torrevieja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tarta de Whiskey<\/em> is one of my favorites and the Bonbon de Almandrado<\/em> is a fun option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On our last visit Terri-Lynn had the Crepes de Chocolate<\/em> and she was very happy!  I had the Tarta de Chocolate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are always trying new places around town.\u00a0 But when it is hard to make a decision, or we just want a guaranteed good meal where we know what to expect, we always return to Rincon de Andres<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
