We all know that Spain thrives on tourism, it´s one of its biggest sources of income, however Covid19 has reduced people´s lives to living day to day, not knowing what is around the corner.

Now, the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, has stated at the 113th meeting of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) held in Madrid on Wednesday, January 20th that there will be no entry to international flights until at least 70% of the population has been vaccinated.

He insisted last week that there would be no tourism “without security” and that any “misstep” could be “very harmful” for the country’s image, but this Saturday he preferred to focus on what the Government will ensure that, from now on, Spain has “two new seals” of quality: that of health safety and that of environmental sustainability.

The Chief Executive confirmed that foreign tourists will be able to visit Spain “from July”, when the Government hopes that most of the country has reached the “new normal”.

The fourth vice president and Minister of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, announced yesterday that “safe corridors” will be created with countries in which the pandemic is controlled.

And the same scheme will also be followed between provinces that complete stage 3.

The 14-day quarantine for visitors, according to government sources, will be maintained as long as travel within Spain is prohibited. That is, until phase 3 is passed: on June 22nd, in most of the territory.

We can only hope that the vaccination process is carried out speedily and correctly and we can soon welcome back friends and family to this magnificent country.

Keep strong, this will be over one day.
