The mayors of Torrevieja and Orihuela have presented the project of the \u2018Orihuela-Torrevieja \/ Orihuela Costa Railway\u2019 to the delegate of the Ministry of Public Works.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This project will link Orihuela train station with Torrevieja \/ Orihuela Costa<\/strong> and will serve the entire coastline, along Guardamar, Pilar de la Horadada and even San Pedro del Pinatar and San Javier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is estimated that more than 1,200,000 people a year would travel on the railway.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the financing, the Alicante Provincial Council would assume the preparation of the plans for the preliminary project, to which must be added the interest of private initiatives to promote the infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cost of this project is estimated to be 277.6 million euros.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mayor of Orihuela has stated that there are business associations that have expressed their interest in taking on this work which would generate a lot of wealth.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route does not produce any environmental damage so it is totally viable, according to the mayor of Orihuela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
