Orihuela is the area in Spain with the most registered British citizens<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

12.7%<\/strong> of the population registered in Orihuela (10,025 people<\/strong>), are British citizens<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

But if you take a walk through the center of Orihuela town, you will see very few Brits<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All these ex-residents of Great Britain are concentrated in the Oriolana coastal area, renamed Orihuela Costa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Villamartin urbanisation<\/strong> (La Zenia<\/em>) has been a consolidated “British terrain<\/em>” for more than 30 years, ranking above other tourist towns such as Benidorm, Torremolinos or Fuengirola in terms of British citizens per square metre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Undoubtedly, the contribution that all these foreign residents make to the municipal coffers through taxes represents some big benefits for the Orihuela town hall<\/strong>, despite the fact that according to some neighbourhood associations such as AVOCA<\/a><\/strong> (Orihuela Costa neighbourhood association), they don’t feel compensated with the municipal services they receive.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n
