Warning when selling your car
Three years ago our re-registered UK car became too expensive to repair.
We contacted an English man through one of the adverts in the free papers which stated they would buy any car, any condition. A price of 100 euros was agreed. He signed and entered an NIE number on the contract we had prepared. He said they would deal with all the paperwork to transfer the ownership. He said he had a girl that went to Alicante every week to deal with this. Being honest ourselves we didn´t imagine that the name and NIE were false and that the girl would never go to Alicante to complete the paperwork.
The following year we received the suma bill. I contacted another English man that we knew and he said he could resolve the problem for us. We paid him 50 euros and had to pay the suma. He said we wouldn´t receive anymore suma bills. Wrong!
Finally we went to see the lady who dealt with the initial re-registering. Within less than three weeks and for only 60 euros she had dealt with the problem and we now have the papers to prove it.
