I have a Sol bank account here and was wondering if it possible to transfer money from my Spanish account to my British Natwest account, using the "transfer" option on the sol bank site. Has anyone done this before, as it would be easier than doing a bank transfer over the counter!

I can't answer your question, sorry, but just wanted to warn you that you ought to check the charges for this type of transaction as it is possible to be charged by both the issuing AND the receiving banks.

        Harry.

If you move money regularly you're better off using a currency exchange company. I use GCEN to move money monthly, and only get charged a small fee by the receiving bank (i.e. in Spain). GCEN don't charge a fee for a regular mandated transfer, they make their money because of the volumes of money they move (i.e. they lump lots of customers like me together, buy at a good rate of exchange, then give me a slightly less good rate of exchange). Their rates are excellent nonetheless, and the service is really simple. Let me know if you want more details.

        Chris.

To avoid this we opened up a Banco Halifax account in Spain as we already had a Halifax account in England. Do not get charges at either end, although you need to keep 600 euros in the Spanish account to avoid charges. Exchange rates up to now have always been better than the tourist rate.

We use HIFX to transfer monies at a great rate.

We transfer to Cam Bank and don't get charged at either end.
