Are there any Bed and Breakfast places that would pick up from the airport? With all the bad stories about hire cars and for someone that has only driven on the left this would be a boon.
What are your dates, which airport do you plan to fly in to and which area to do you want to stay in? More info here may help to ID someone who can then help you.
Guess you are right about the amount of cars that are targeted.
Has been featured in our local paper here in Lincolnshire and actually know two different people who were robbed.
One couple were early for thr flight so stopped near to Alicante for a meal and lost everything. Car windows smahed in broad daylight. Luggage taken. When you hear it so often it would seem that it is common and more likely to happen to you than not.
Hubby recently suffering severe chest pains and awaiting appointment for tests. Do wonder if it is concerned with buying in Spain but he said not.
Was trying to avoid more stress for him. I gave up driving a few years ago due to eye problems. The bank we are with is in Torrevieja also the sales office. I imagine there will be local transport to the site but sure if all goes well with health checks then he will hire a car. Why do things show up afterwards and not before. Such a huge commitment buying abroad.
Hi Ashley. Glad that you're seeing it as a huge commitment - too many people take the whole thing with a pinch of salt (and inevitably discover problems en route). Hope your husband's check up turns out OK. Maybe the stress of driving may not be a good thing for him!
Did not even think about asking the sales people for help as I find it hard to get answers to even simple questions. It is not due for completion till Oct. 2006 but I thought we would want to come over to check progress.
As Chris (hubby) is self employed he can never find time to even take a working day off but depending on the outcome of tests (if and when we ever see anyone) he may have to stop work anyway. The worse scenario is that we would have to try to sell on completion but I gather that is hardly an option given the present housing situation in Spain.
Looking on the bright side he is feeling well and the GP said he would have expected him to have had more twinges or some other sign by now.
I am taking it as a warning but with the heavy job he has (groundwork) and the ever increasing mounds of paperwork each evening I am not surprised. A more stress free life beckons though 9 years to retirement.
