Bank Interest

Where can I get the best interest rates on amounts up to, say, 10,000?
And do the banks over here make reports to the UK Tax people, about foreign Bank accounts, or are they
relativlely safe from discovery.

I know that most of the 'current' accounts don't pay interest as they do in the UK. The banking system in Spain is like it was in the UK 10 years ago with various charges for account maintenance etc. Have a look around at the various banks to see what savings accounts they can offer. Many of the Spanish banks have workable websites, some with English translation.

In terms of any interest received, yes, the bank has a duty to report the amount paid to the UK tax authorities. You should know by now that there's no escape from the Inland Revenue!
