ticks on dog.

i am bringing my 2 dogs to spain in oct for a couple months, i have just read that ticks are a problem there,i know i can have mine vacinated but is it such a problem.thanks

Hi Brian

We moved to Spain about two years ago and we got a dog from the local dogs Pound.

He was a smasher but when we got him to the vet he was absolutely walking with ticks.

It was really not any reflection whatsoever on the pound because the dog had literally just been taken in minutes before we arrived looking for a dog. They don't generally let dogs out to new homes before they are fully checked out but my good wife and boss can be very persuasive.

Vet gave the dog a good examination and gave us a bottle for ticks.

Much combing each morning and evening and a liberal sprinkling of said bottle and ticks were totally cleared up in seven days.

Incidentally - ticks should not be a problem for you because I understand that they only get them when they are abandoned and are sleeping rough.
