Registering to rent a property. Does anyone have any info?

I have been told that it is a legal requirement to register for the purpose of renting out a property. Is this the case, and if so, can anyone tell me how to go about it and to who?

I dont know about a legal requirement, but we have just signed for a place in La Zenia and it is in the deeds that we have to register with a tourist office in Valencia. We have got our soliciter looking into it regarding cost and ease!!!!!!!!!!!! watch this space.
