Bank cards!

I have a Solbank maestro cash card. I have recently tried to use this card to make a payment over the internet, but was refused. I went into the Solbank and was told that a card with a maestro symbol cant be used over the internet. I dont think this is true, as I have a British Natwest maestro card and I'm sure I have used this a few times with internet companies!! Does anyone out there know any different?!

Its the same with my cam bank maestro card,ok for cash out of the atm.But not much use for anything else.

Maestro or Mastercards need to be treat the same way as Amex or Diners Cards. The are accepted but in fewer places due to higher encashment charges. When you get your card make sure you ask for Visa it's no difference to the bank...they just don't make so much...Shame
