Directions Please help

I am over next week and I need to get my NIE number can any of you helpfull people out there give me the directions to the place in Alicante where you can get your number the same day.

Doc, thanks for all your help with directions for NIE for us last week. we got them fine but what an experience!

... and there's more to come. I had a real wild goose chase last week when in Spain trying to pay my Wealth Tax, Renta etc (as I've chosen not to use a gestor / solicitor). I managed to get to Orihuela Hacienda, got the forms and completed them, went to the bank to pay, was told to go back to the Hacienda to get 'etiquetas' for the forms, went back to the Hacienda who insisted on seeing my original NIE documents which were back home in the UK. So, went to the police station in Orihuela to get copies only to find out that to get copies you have to go through the whole application process for NIEs again! At that point I decided to get some tapas for lunch and a cold beer, and then came home to the UK without having managed to pay anything with regard to taxes!

Hey ho. Moral of this story is:
1) Keep your documentation safe; and
2) Whenever you go to do anything official take it ALL with you just in case!
