  • British Migration to the Costa Blanca - Dream or Disaster?

    Hi,
I'm currently studying Geography at uni here in the UK and am undertaking an undergraduate dissertation investigating British migration to the Costa Blanca. I need participants who are resident on the Costa Blanca, or have been so in the recent past, who are willing to take part in an interview (can be by email or telephone). Confidentiality is guaranteed. There have been plenty of studies into international migration but less in terms of what actually happens afterwards so I'm investigating how Brits are fairing in their pursuit of happiness, hence the subtitle 'Dream or Disaster'. So if you are willing to tell me your positive and negative experiences drop me a line. I'm especially interested in experiences with land grab law issues and buying off plan. My email is: njr7 @ cant.ac.uk
If anyone could point me in the direction of sound statistics relating to the British on the Costa Blanca/Valencia region would also be of great help.
I'll be grateful for any contribution and interested participants are welcome to a copy of the study on completion.
    Thanks. Neil.

British Migration to the Costa Blanca - Dream or Disaster?

      Hi Beastess,

Thanks for your email. I'd definitely like more details of your experiences, both in terms of buying off plan and with other expats. I'm off to Torre for the weekend to conduct some preliminary research/interviews. Would it be possible to meet up for an interview? If not, it can all be done by email.

Thanks for your interest and support,

      Neil Rothwell

          Info on an off-plan nightmare

          Hi Neil.
There is a web site that has had a thread running for the best part of a year. The thread is about an off plan development that has been dragging on for around 3 years.
You will find a lot of the clients there, although some are incognito. I have been following the discussion for around 6 months now. I stumbled across it while researching my move. it is at yeclaserve.com

          Hope this helps
          Andy

            Hi Neil

Don't know if it is of any use to you but my friend and I are both moving to Spain next year. Don't know how long your course is for but you would be welcome to follow my progress. I am moving out there with my 5 year old son.

            Jo

Thanks for pointing that out for me, it's exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for.

              Thanks for your help,

                Offer of help

                Jo,
Thanks for your offer of help but I'm hoping to have the majority of this completed by Christmas. Good luck with your move though and I hope everything works out for you.

                Best regards,

                Neil

May I ask exactly what are you going to do with your dissertation? You must of course remember that the people who have been in touch with you are all subjective.
I personally will have no contribution to make to your research, I am not a resident, but am very interested, but from the nature of some of the posters on here, you may just get an unbalanced view.
                  My opinion, of course.

I worry about Neil getting an 'Adams Family' point of view, my opinion, of course. I wish this family would leave the country ..............

Please don't let's start all that on this forum too.

                            Nuff said.
