Anti bark collars for dogs?!

Just found out from the neighbours that our dog howls when we are not in the house ( and stops as soon as he hears our car coming home, so we never hear him howling!!) I have heard that the citronella collars are very effective, but has anyone seen them for sale anywhere?

We have just got one from the vets on los altos
is a collar with a spray box attached each time they bark it gives of a spray of mustard spray it startles yor dog
Does not harm them in any way but seems to be working for us 148 Euro

Please, I'm not having a go - I have a dog and may well have your problems - why are the dogs so upset when you leave them? Is it for a really long time, have you had them very long?
I find the use of mustard spray very worrying - it does have an effect on the brain.
Any info will be helpful. Thanks.

Ours doesnt just bark when left.
She will bark in the street at other dogs constant.
She doesnt wear the collar all the time only at a time when we dont want her to bark, and i seems to have calmed her down a bit.
As for damage it can do well i hope it is as the instructions say.

Have just bought a citronella spray collar, and its been very effective! This is a lemon scented gas which is not at all harmful to the dog, and I dont think it will pyscologically ( is that spelt correctly?) damage the dog! I dont work, and my Beagle (infamous for being a naughty breed of dog!) is only left for periods of up to an hour at a time - only a few times a week! I'm very happy with the new collar - thinking about buying 2 more for my kids ha ha!!

I got the citronella collar from centrocan - but it was 125 euros!! My neighbours thought I had taken the dog out with me when I first put it on him, as he was so quiet!! I would highly recommend it!
