  • best Torrevieja Urbanisation to live in

Hi, we are moving to Torrevieja from the Valencia provice. We have already spent some time looking at the area. Can people respond to this thread mentioning the pros and cons of where they live. We are looking to be within 10KM or so of Torrevieja town.

    Cheers
    Dave

Might be best to avoid an urbanisation altogether as some Presidents are control freaks.

      Hi
We moved to Quedada just outside Torrevieja last January, we love it, it is a fairly big area, but lots of different styles, very English though, but if you want totally Spanish the Torrevieja area is not the place.

We have just bought in Formentera about 15 min north of Torrevieja, it is a small spanish village with new builds and it is a great place to live and stay in.

Hi, we are buying in Lo Crispin near Algorfa (12kms from Torrevieja). It is an urbanisation which is limited on the total size so won't be massive and it overlooks the lakes on one side and hills on the other, very handy for the motorway (AP7).

An impossible question to answer - it all depends on what you're looking for.

Urbs can be made or broken by the attitude of the President. Before you buy anywhere make sure that the kind of people who live there match your own circumstances and, most importantly, enjoy living there. Don't be afraid to ask - knock on doors if you have to. If you have a family with young kids find an Urb that has similar families and a President who is sympathetic to the needs of young families (and everything that goes with them!) If you are retired and looking for peace and quiet then look for an Urb with a similar demographic. Ask residents about the President: how long has he been President; is he approachable; how are conflicts (if any) handled.

Do your homework and you should find somewhere you'll enjoy living.

            Chris.

                Urbanisation La Siesta

                Large British population
                Friendly Spanish population
Urb has been adopted by council so no power crazy president or community fees.
                Low crime rate
                Wide, well maintained roads
                Well-maintained green areas
                Close to Salt Lakes
                Close to Natural Park Land
                Spanish Restaurants/bars
                English restaurants/bars
                Chinese Restaurants
                Aqua park
                Church
                Police Station
                Salud being built (allegedly)
                Age Concern
                Clinic
                Bowling Green
                Petrol station
                Banks
                3 supermarkets
                Regular rubbish collection
Very regular postal delivery to your door
                Telephone line? No problem
                Regular bus service
                5 mins from motorway
5 mins from Carrefour & Habaneras etc
10 mins from beach and town
                Communal spirit
                Lots of full time residents
Not too busy in the summer
Not too quiet in the winter
Well established, I believe it was the first urbanisation built in the area, maybe with exception of Urb La Marina

Why would you want to live anywhere else?

                  Best urb. etc.

When would a new urb. get taken over by the council.
What is the criteria for this?

                  Ashley.
