Air conditioning- anyone bought from supermarket etc ?

Hi, Being a former telephone engineer and subsequently a heating engineer there isn't much I cant do. I see some seriously cheap Aircon units in Leroy merlin / Carrefour/ etc etc. Has anyone done a diy installation of these??????? They appear to be a doddle to install, SO LONG AS THEY ARE PRE GASSED !! I'm assuming they must be pre gassed with schrader valves on the pipework from the condenser to the pump and the pipes have been evacuated of air somehow with valves. If they are not, then it is not a diy prospect as you need a vacuum pump, guages and refrigerent gas.

HAVE YOU BOUGHT ONE ???? (Inverter hot + cold currently in leroy merlin for 299 euro. Airlin brand) TELL ME HOW YOU GOT ON PLEASE. I see plenty of Spanish buying them so I guess they are diy fitting.

Hi Keith, I have just joined this forum. I am about to purchase one of these "Airlin aircon units" How did you get on with yours? Was it pre-gassed? Thanks, Terry.
