  • Driving licence in spain

I am just about to buy a used car and I have my 'pink' UK Full driving licence with my old uk address on. Does anyone know how you go about getting it changed to your new spanish address, and do you have to get the spanish equivalent for the full driving licence?
If so, does anyone know how much it all costs and the time length in which it all has to be done by?
    Thnkyou

    Hi
We use our daughters address as an address in England, if you can get an address that you can put on your driving licence, and it is the one with a photo card ie the euro one, you won't need to put your Spanish address on it as Spanish licenses don't have addresses on them (or so I have been told)
EU licenses are legal here and there is no need to change, you will need an address on it that would be your base in the UK if you were there, as it is illegal with the DVLA not to have a current address on it.

    Hope this helps

Hi I have been told it is better to hold on to your UK licence as Spanish licences need renewing earlier than UK ones, and you have to pass some computer reality test when it needs renewing. As the previous poster said use a relatives address to change your UK licence to.

I have been told that it is better to change to a Spanish licence before the age of 70.
At the age of 70 yout UK-Euro licence expires. If it expires you have to sit a test again. If you live in Spain dou want to or qualify to take the UK modern test ?
Alternatively you have to apply for the full Spanish test then - which adds Spanish bureaucracy,Spanish Highway code and a second language to cope with. Not an easy ordeal at 70.
If you have a Spanish licence already I believe you only have to succeed in a fairly simple manual "reactions" test.
        Best of Luck
