Strange request this one, for my upcoming birthday (one of the rare ones with an 0 at the end) Family and Friends have asked what I would like - something to keep / remember reaching another '0'. As we have run out of room / things we need in the UK I have been thinking it would be nice to get some items for our new place in Spain. To enable us to provide ball park details some quick questions for the green fingered amongst you

    1) Any idea how much a Palm (small) would cost
    2) How much are Olive, orange and lemon trees
    3) How long do above mentioned plants live
    4) Do garden centres in Spain normally deliver ?

    Thanks

    B

        Re: Thanks

        Hi Doc
Last time I was over January it looked as though the one on the motorway roundabout was closed! Not sure if this was temporary or permenant.

There is also one on the N332 passed Punta Prima under the blue bridge straight over the roundabout towards Torre and its on the left.

If you take the road to San Miguel and turn off to Montesinos there are a couple of nurseries There is one on the left after about 3 miles which sells large trees and will deliver and even plant them for you. (Can't remember the name sorry!)
They have various palms at various prices depending on the kind and size, a neighbour got a young but large Olive there. for about 40 euros. If you go into Los Montesinos and turn right there is a very cheap nursery called Valantines where I got a lot of my plants. If you buy a lemon tree make sure it is the one that fruits and flowers at the same time. In the UK it is called a Lunar lemon.

The people from the (La Zenia) motorway roundabout garden centre have moved their business to Guardamar unfortunately.

I was out in Torrevieja last week and had a bargain on a small lemon tree.
It was only 20 euros from the Los Dolses garden centre.
                Give them a try

Whereabouts is the Los Dolses garden centre, directions from Punta Prima. Also do they do rose bushes, bourganvilla, geraniums etc.

                    Hi Dot.

From Punta Prima head towards Cartagena on the N332. At the La Zenia roundabout turn right towards Villamartin. Go over the motorway and the garden centre is about 1km further on on the LHS, just before the Supervalu supermarket at Los Dolses.

They have most types of plants - big place.

                    Chris.
