Mobiles in Spain

When we take possesion of our property as we will only be out for 4-6 weeks a year (the rest back in the Uk paying for the house) we are considering buying a mobile rather than a land line for our property.

Any views on this route being more advantagious or a bad idea?

If a good idea can anyone pls tel us of a decent mobile phone shop in the Torry area that speak English and would be able to help us with a decent pay as you go deal.

We got mobile phones fronm Dog and Bone, La Zenia....e80 each, but you get e29-30 credit in the price. That is with Movistar. When phoning UK landline it works out half the price. cheap aswell mobile to mobile.................................HTH........ .............

We use a pay as you go as well. plenty to choose from at Carrefour even sim card only if you have a British mobile. Theres also a cheap way for people in UK to phone you. Get details off spain dial. 15p a min to spainish mobiles.

Hi definitely get a Spanish SIM on pay as you go. We got an old UK mobile unblocked in the UK and use that phone. Go to any phone shop and get a Spanish SIM card although one of the best deals I think is actually at the camera/phone counter at the carrefour. For twenty odd euro we got another SIm card for a second phone not long ago which included 10 euro calls. We have been using our original phone for 3 years now and just top it up each time we go out through our cash machine at the bank.

Yes. Mine is an ex contract p.a.y.g phone. think it would have cost about 30 e ??, sorry cant remember, to get it unblocked. So it was better to pay the extra and get a spanish phone with the credit already on it..............

We bought a Spanish mobile and used Vodafone for calls, but because we hadnt used it for 6 months Vodafone have cancelled the sim and I have been told that there is nothing we can do about it, you need to check this out first if you only want it for short periods at a time!!!!

I use an Amena sim card and find that you get almost a year to use your credit without being cut off.

Another good website to use for calling from your Spanish mobile to UK landlines (so far doesn't work to UK mobiles)
