Social Security Number

How does one obtain a Social Security number here in Spain if you are not of retirement age and not working. Lived here now for four years, paying my tax here, have upto date SIP card, but this has no social security number on it. This is the number next to the letters NSS. Without this number unable to obtain a European Health Card from CAISS office in Orihuela??

Seemingly unless you are of pensionable age or paying into The Social Security system in Spain you are not entitled to a European Health card issued by Spain
