NIE numbers

I hear there are people out there who can obtain your NIE number on your behalf. Where do I find these people?

As far as i know you have to appear in person at the police station
which will be issuing your NIE number.

I went to elche police station with my estate agent handed in my details, went back a week later to pick up my nie numbers. hope this helps you out.

Hi Daviesinspain.

As Douglas has said you must apply in person for your NIE number, and if you need a number for any other member of your family they must also apply in person.

There are people who advertise their services who will collect you and take you to the relevant office to get your number, but it's fairly simple to do yourself thereby saving you spending money you don't need to spend.

Whereabouts is your property first of all, as that will dictate which office you need to go to.

Not exactly sure where that is. If it's on the La Zenia side of the Punta Prima roundabout then you can apply at Playa Flamenca Ayuntamiento. If it's on the Torrevieja side then you can use the Extranjeros office in the town centre.

NIE Concerns

Hi, Along the same lines I have been told that although I will be living in Fortuna I will have to use a Torrevieja address as the legal company assisting me does not have offices in Murcia! Is that err proper?? Thanks

Errr no.

Is this legal company helping you to get your NIEs? As part of the application you will need to show a copy of your escritura and/or rental agreement. Are they planning on falsifying these documents for you?

This seems like bad legal advice. I would suggest that you change the company you are using, or simply apply for your NIEs yourself - it's easy and a lot cheaper!

Thanks again Doc, How do I go about applying for my NIE numbers for self and wife? We are having a house built in Fortuna completing on 010407. I did not think it was feasible to wwait until then to get NIE? I was under the impression that it was something you should have in advance? If the latter case is correct what docs would I have before the build is completed? Thanks skelly

we were taken to the police station by our solicitor to apply for nie the day before we were due to come home. our solicitor picked the nie up for us and the next time we were over we went to pick it up from our solicitor it all went very smoothly hope this helps

It's perfectly OK for a nominated representative to collect the NIE number(s) for you when they have been prepared (there is a space on the form where someone can be nominated), but the initial application must be made in person by the applicant.
