Motorway tolls

Hi
We have just purchased an apartment in Los Montesinos ( Holiday home for now) and I was wondering how inconvienient/expensive the motorway tolls were.
While we were over looking at properties our "Escort" knew all the back roads and so avoided all the tolls.
I will mainly be driving from Los Montesinos to Guadamar or Torrevieja plus the obvious airport trips, oh and carrefore and Ikea.......so pretty much every which way
Any views or advise would be greatly appreciated

The strech of motorway from the turn off from the AP7 down to Cartegena is an open system. There are only 3 toll stations and only one of these is at an actual junction. Depending on where you get on/off you may not need to pay a toll.

So no tolls are paid if you use the motorway from Montesinos north to the airport/Alicante. If you go south from there one toll station is just after the Montesinos turn off, then there is one to get off at Cabo Roig. If you're going all the way south the third one is just after the Cabo Roig junction.

South of Torrevieja the rest of the motorway is free as well.

I believe that some people will just leave before one of the toll stations and rejoin after the 2nd one and thus avoid paying the tolls.

one thing to be a bit careful of (& I assume this is still the case?), the spanish authority's in the their wisdom (& for fear of taking any traffic off the free flowing N332) double the toll charges for the summer months thus making sure the motorway stays virtually clear!

There are three toll stations, but only two tolls payable. If you leave the motorway at km763 (La Zenia) you pay at the junction of the roundabout rather than on the carriageway.
