  • Residential Campsites in Torrevieja

    Hi All,

I am hoping to bring my motorhome down at the end of this year & was hoping to leave it on a residential campsite if possible so I can come and go when I like by air rather than driving it back and forth. Can anyone point out where, if possible I could leave the van for extended periods without being in Torrevieja permanently? Is this legal in Spain? I also need to know if I was to spend say 3-5 months a year (Oct-March?) in Torrevieja would I still be able to receive my Disability Living Allowance & Incap Benefits from UK?

Sorry but I really have no idea how to go about this, just that I need the climate that Torrevieja can offer.

    Best wishes,

    Tony

The above site might help with camp sites.
If your benefits are paid into a UK bank you can draw Euros from ATMs in Spain with your debit card. If you use Nationwide you get interbank rate of exchange with no commission, other banks will charge commission

One other thing to consider,a vehicle on English plates can only stay in Spain for 183 days in any year it should then be sealed by the Guardia Civil for 6 months. Many British flout this law but be warned.

With regards to DLA then technically I guess you could be here for 5 months without losing it. I believe the rule is 6 months currently.

Incapacity benefit can be claimed whilst living here anyway.

The question should be asked if this is morally right though? My Mother used to receive DLA in the UK and this stopped after 6 months because she was honest about moving.

She is not well enough to fly (once in 3 years) never mind travel by road from the UK to Spain.
