  • Broadband in Spain

    Hello!

Does anybody know of how or who the best company is to get this service in Spain? Around Playa Flamenca. I would like broadband but am not sure which company I should go for.
    Many thanks

I have been with telefonica for a year with no bother or downtime, other providers are wanadoo, terra and suchlike. They all get the broadband line from telefonica at the moment and the price is high, between 30 and 40 euros a month but with special offers on phone usage. This hopefully will come down over the next year according to the papers. You need to apply to the providor of your choice and it is down to telefonica to say yes or not and that depends on how many other users are in your area. On brand new urbs they wait until they have a certain level of uptake, this was no different than the UK when it first started. I have had no problem with the quality of the service, but have heard it is a big problem if you do and can't speak Spanish, but that also applies to Wanadoo as a friend had all sorts of trouble sorting her broadband out due to no English helplines.

Do you already have a landline? If not, this can be a big stumbling block as the wait can be anything from days to years - literally.

If you cannot get a landline then the Nortons system may be an option for you. They are based at La Zenia.

Personally I use Telefonica and would never go to a 3rd party for my broadband connection.

Thank you for this information (very helpful). I do not have a landline yet so I guess that would be my 1st step. I will try my Spanish out on Telefonica (poor things) when I call them, see if those CDs I've been playing will pay off!
        Thanks again
