    Hiya,
Look on the viamichelin site. According to them, 22hours appx from Yorkshire...We're in South Yorks so shouldn't be that much different, say an hour or hour and half maybe.
    That's all motorway..

      Driving from E Yorks

      Hi

We have driven out from Northumberland 6 times in the last 5 years. We have a dog and always take the Dover/Calais ferry and follow motorways all the way.

We reckon on 20 hours of driving to cover the 1250 miles from Calais to Torrevieja. We have two overnight stops, at Reims and Perpignan. We have done it with one overnight stop but find it very tiring

      Regards

      Pat

We did the drive from west yorkshire in December. We went through France because the ferry to spain was not running. We did the drive over three days with two stops in France one in Calais and the other as you go up the mountains. The journey was an experiance and would do it again. In December we dreaded the weather accross the mountains but the roads were clear and as I say an experiance just take your time and enjoy if you go this way. We got the route from viamichelin and used satalite navigation tom tom 700 which is purchased with main roads of europe.

We did not set of until about 5pm so we could have done it in two to two and a half days if we set off early morning.

We have friends who set of from south of england and went by ferry to spain then drove down spain this took them about a day and half depending what time ferry you get. They also said it was quite rough sea (this is why they stop the ferry in december)

All in all the hardest bit for us was driving down the english motorways.

If you go through france we used the channel tunnel which you pay per car and we had to take money for hotels fuel and tolls, not sure how much in all but worth every penny and cent.

We have done it two different ways from Devon. The first was through the Channel tunnel and then French and Spanish motorways. Driving was magic, beautiful roads-once you got out of UK-spotlessly clean services. We had 2 night stops, hotels are very reaonable and easy to find from the motorways. Total journey time 3 days. As pmgled said, a wonderful experience.
The second journey was from Plymouth on the Pont Avont Brittany Ferry to Santander. a lovely ship and a very comfortable cabin. Ship is like a mini cruise ship. 17 hours at sea. It took 10 hours driving leisurely to Torrevieja from Santander.. I suppose the total costs are about the same if you add petrol, hotels , tolls..
One thing, make sure you have a good car recovery insurance to get you wherever you are going in case you break down, my son broke down north of Madrid, Green Flag European Recovery were worse than useless, they couldnt speak Spanish and advised him to find an sos box!!

Cheers, have a good journey. Its an enjoyable experience either way.

As we take our dog out with us we have driven each time and take the Eurotunnel, using motorway most of the way - a marvellous experience compared with here! What I would say though is to go towards Rouen & Orleans and keep clear of the Paris route, as even on a Sunday it was a complete snarl up. It may be a few miles longer but a lot quicker over-all. We usually stop three times and use logis-de-france hotels/inns and have rarely been disappointed. Enjoy!

              Driving to Spain

              Hi,
I have just come from Manchester to Torrevieja via the Portsmouth - Bilbao ferry. Make sure your car is in very good condition because your brakes will take a hammering coming over the mountains north of Madrid.

You can do it in a day as I did but it is better to stop over either in Madrid or the outskirts to split the journey in two. If not, make sure you stop every few hours to give you and the car a break.

UK to Spain, Spain to Uk

We drove from East Yorkshire 4 years ago, can't remember the lenght of time but we took the Bilbao ferry which was fine.
It's 9 - 10 hours from Bilbao or Santander to Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa.
