  • Playa Flamenca beach

    Hi

I am trying to find the person who helped me in the sea at Playa Flamenca on 23rd of Aug this year. All I can remember is that he is English. Can anyone help please.

      Playa Flamenca beach

      Hi

Much the same happened me. I was swimming near the rocks and got caught out by strong undercurrent and high waves. There was nothing I could do but call for help. I was being dragged out to sea all the time. Some people up on the rock noticed that I was in trouble and eventually help arrived. I would love to make contact with the person.

Sounds like you got caught in exactly the same spot as my dad, he used to deep sea dive as a hobby so was a strong swimmer. The water always looks calm but the under currents are very deceptive.

yeah it was awful the emotion of it all is really just starting to hit me now. I hope that other people know of the danger at that part of the sea. I would never want anyone to go through that. Are you in Spain or England?

I just stayed by the pool for the rest of my holiday. Which was ok, I would have gone to another beach but my friends did not want to. As you can imagine it had a big knock on effect on them. If you ever hear anything about my ordeal on the 23rd of Aug please let me know. Hope you are having a great time over there. Its nice. I would love to be back despite what happened to me.

"Playa Flamenca beach" - probably a stupid question but which beach exactly is this - La Zenia, Cala Capitan (spelling?), one by Punta Prima (with high walkway behind), any of the numerous coves opposite carrefore(formally champion), or the one where the Correos is (don't know the area name, down from Mercadona road?) - can't think of any more?

I was walking past Playa Flamenca Beach a couple of weeks ago. I watched the lifeguards carrying out a rescue, apparently, a young girl went into the sea, got into trouble so her father went in after her, and he got into trouble, so in went the lifeguards and got them to safety. Having got the father and daughter back to the beach, I was disgusted that neither had the courtesy to say thank you to the lads. I spoke to the lifeguard (Spanish) who informed me that that was the fourth rescue of the day. Despite this, people were still going into the sea!
Dont people realise that when the RED FLAG IS FLYING it means dont go into the sea unless a lifeguard says its ok.
Forty years ago I was a Courier ( tour rep) in Majorca, the undertow was so bad on our local beach that 6 people drowned in one summer alone. The Guardia Civil took this so seriously that they patrolled the beach and if anyone went into the sea when the red flag was flying, they arrested them.

Glad your outcomes were all ok.

If you really want to go to a safe beach, San Pedro and the Mar Menor is perfect. Very shallow and very calm, no undertow.

Harry, the Playa Flamenca Beach area is that by the Post Office. Small beach to the left as you look out to sea, and larger one to the right of you. I am sure they both have individual names - as do the 2 at La Zenia (one each side of the Hotel) - but I don't know them.

Harry, my apologies, I didn't answer your question. I believe that Playa Flamenca is the two beaches where all the work is going on, by the Correos. I know they have different names, but dont know what they are.
La Zenia Beach is by the La Zenia Hotel
Cala Kapitan is near Cabor Roig. (N332 From Torrevieja direction Turn left at the roundabout and follow signs)
Punta Prima beach is the one with the high promenade. ( on the N332 after Lidl's roundabout, going towards Torrevieja, take the 1st right.)
Hope that helps, I think I'm right
                      Cheers
                      Keith
