Some friends were over last week and we arranged to meet at Playa Flamenca commercial centre to watch theEngland game on the Wednesday night. Had a nice night out and I caught a taxi back to San Pedro leaving my friends to wander home. On there way home only 5 mins from centre , they were befriended by some people they beleived to be North African.As they got chatting they dropped their guard, and then wallop, they were seperated on a given signal and beaten mercilessly. Both lost walletts and mobiles, receiving awful injuries.These were not small men, they are late 20s and able to look after themselves. If they are targetting this type of people I urge everyone to be very carefull.
The airline refused to let one of them fly due to his injuries

That's pretty rough - and to maintain the "word of warning" theme within this thread, I know we read about these all the time but as a timely reminder.... family travelling down to Torrevieja on the motorway outside Denia yesterday. Stopped at services - obviously spotted and moved on, had the rear tyre shot out and while changing it - bag, wallet and phone taken from the front while working at the back. Thankfully in this case no physical harm done.

Can only hope any incidents like these are isolated but always worth trying to take the most basic of precautions - they do happen.

This is awful. Can I ask though what time of night was this? Where were they walking to? Were they drunk? I only ask as I am in the process of moving nearish the Playa Flamenca centre and we did say we could walk home, if we went out there, but now I think I'll drive. It would just be nice to know the above. I do hope your friends have recovered from their ordeal.

I don't know the address they were staying at, but if you come out of the entrance near the Lansdowne Pub and turn left then turn right at the t junction at the end of the road. this road goes basically straight on , passing a pub called the Friendly bar or something similar. The attack took place along this stretch of road , not sure exactly where.
It was around 1 in the morning and they had taken a few drinks but were perfectly coherent and far from rolling drunk.
They are fine now ,although it appears it was a far more organised attack than first thought. When they were initially set upon , a car pulled up and one of the men called for help, two more men jumped out to help alright, to help the muggers it appears this is a very professional unit and I advise everyone to be vigilant and take a cab , even on short journeys.

We were followed to our car from a restaurant in Playa Flamenca in July by an African who met up with two others one of them got in a car a proceeded to follow us out of the car park, we pulled over and he had to drive passed us as there was nowhere for him to go or stop so gave him the slip. Dont know what they were up to.
