Bank Charges- Best Bank for ex pats

Hi All,
Just wondering if you have an opinion on the best bank in Torrevieja for holiday home owner who needs to transfer Euros into spain and out of the account by direct debit. I am with CAM Bank and their charges for accepting transfers and drafts back out seem very high.

hi there if you use halifax to halifax there are no charges. There a banco halifax hispanic in torrevieja and at Playa Flamenca

Hubby & I have been looking into this as we are also with Cambank & also non residents just outside Guardamar. We have decided we shall open UK Halifax current bank a/c also a Halifax Hispania bank current a/c (Halifax Hispania now also have a brand new office on edge of Guardamar which is quiet, luxury ) We have JUST returned after ensuring we have all paperwork necessary to open a/c at Guardamar branch in Oct. We shall switch from Cambank.

we too just opened a halifax account and transferred koeny at no cahnrge from english account.

if opening be aware that there are 2 current accounts - 1 basic and 1 called extra for which you pay e25 per annum to be a member of a club which gives added benefits (more on website).

simple process to open spanish account from UK. from day I rang to get application form to day I received final security PIN was about 2 weeks.

you can however only use Servired atms (if you don;t want to pay e1.65 for your transaction) or if you want to go into Halifax you will need passport or driving license. No atms at Halifax branches.
