Hi,

We have booked a Clio 5 dr or similiar through Carspain.com for next July,

Has anybody used this company before and if so are they any good or should i stay well clear?

Last time in town I used carjet.com and the car was with Solmar at Alicante.

Good price. Brand new car. no problems at all

I also use easyautos.co.uk who use all of the main companies at Alicante and Murcia always get a good car sometimes an upgrade and they are all in the airport arrivals area.

I have just booked a car in France using webcarhire.com and they were the cheapest for a well known company ( National) they also do Spain.

We always use www.doyouspain.com as they consistantly are the cheapest.

Recently have been using quite a few car hire companies from alicante airport.They seem to have a new thing going eg solmar and europa car,where they insist that you pay for a full tank of petrol 42 euros or there abouts and to bring the car back empty.Which as any-ones knows is very difficult.I think its a bit of a scam.

I would check out 2 things with car hire:

how you pay for petrol. I too can't imagine how you can take a car back empty plus if you only use a car for 3/4 days, it is nigh on impossible to empty the tank (unless you syphon it off and sell it to the chap next door). I use centauro becuase you pay for a full tank up front, take it back full (we use the gas station at Santa Pola on the 332 coming from Torre), and get a full refund. never had a problem.

secondly - check your insurance is fully comp (or CDW as it is called). we have friends with us in Sept who inadvertently ended up TP and had a bump. now left to pay for the damage to the car which is a write-off. take a moment to check your coverage.

i regularly use carjet - they seem to have good prices.
Had cars from solmar - they have always been good. Also Auriga - the girk on the desk was well nice, but last time i got a car with auriga it was a little scruffy; wasn't bothered as i intended transporting timber in it.
