I recently flew to Murcia with Ryan Air and I have to say I though the whole process was chaos and designed to rip you off!! First of all no seats are allocated which is OK if managed correctly however they put the gate number up on the screen before any announcement is made and a rugby scrum ensues! It was the same on the way back, however the biggest con is: LUGGAGE coming back we had to pay 18 Euros because on of our cases was over the 20kg limit by 2kg even though the other cases were 10kg under the combined weight. This is very dodgy indeed had a 'discussion' with various people but with no success in fact they would not give me the boarding passes until I had paid! Comibined with 'warm' expensive drinks on the plane I will not be using them again......

I would not be a supporter of ryanair, I flew with them a couple of times and would rather go with someone else, but when you fly with ryanair that is what you get there terms and conditions clearly state the baggage allowance for each suitcase and if you keep within those guidelines and can put up with the scrum for seats overall they are cheaper than most of the others.

Have to agree that the Ryanair 'experience' is pretty chaotic, however, as we try to get out to our Apt as often as possible then we will fly with whoever wants to offer us cheap flights (providing the flight times are OK too)
BUT, my own rules then kick in, I give them absolutely NOTHING back, I make sure I read up on baggage allowances and rules so that I don't pay their 'fines' and I don't buy anything from them on the plane as everything is extortionately priced.
There is something wrong if you cannot have been fed and watered prior to the flight, then you only have to wait two and a half hours which passes pretty quickly, I just read my daily paper. For us its just a way of getting from A to B

EasyJet are no better. They also do not have allocated seats. The reason given is that it is quicker for loading the passengers. However, Ryanair state that they never overbook whereas EasyJet DO - and when EasyJet overbooked all their flights one day I was unable to get the one I had booked for so chose to travel with Ryanair instead. Give me Ryanair any day over Easyjet.

Hi All,
I usually use Alicante airport, flying Easy Jet or BA. Have never thought of Murcia. Can you fly from London on any day and what are the airport facilities like? It definitely provides another option, even with Ryanair. I heard it was a military airport once.

As I will only fly in and out of Stansted Airport (a few minutes drive away) I only have the choice of Ryanair or Easyjet. I much prefer Murcia Airport, especially for arrivals, and after my disgraceful experience with Easyjet it's Ryanair or nothing for me. I've never really known their flights to be late either, certainly nothing more than maybe 15 minutes. I admit sometimes the staff can seem a little young and you wonder how much confidence you would have in them if, God forbid, there was an emergency, but otherwise I have to say that I have never had any criticism of them whatsoever. Also, on the whole, I have found them cheaper than Easyjet.

Ryanair
I agree with Kenbowns . Don't give Ryanair any more that u have to. You wouldn't be expecting the trolly dolly if you were on a coach trip of2.5 hrs now would you.pay the minimum for the flight .usually i cent plus" tax".Don't check in any luggage-the charge when introduced was not too bad as the luggage allowance also went up to 20kg,however that little b****ks has put the luggage allowance back down to 15kg.dont buy anything on board.Catering in Murcia Airport is pathetic but it is not that difficult to last a short haul flight.A sandwich made at home before u leave is lots nicer and sweets/choc newspapers are available in the small shop which also sells shorts-alcoholic ones I mean ,for a Euro.Don't know if the bottles are small enough to qualify under the new regs regarding hand luggage or not.
o'Learys latest gag is to urge u to pay to secure the seat of your choice and to have priority boarding.Don't fall for it! I am usually last to board with my husband and normally secure 2 aisle seats possibly opposite each other and if not ,we are grownups and can bear to be parted for the short journey.
Like him or hate him, Olearys airline CAN be the cheapest way to get to Spain but you have to know the rules and your rights under the Air passenger EU regulations introduced in 2005, the play kenbowns game. sit tight and get from A to B.

I agree with the comments made. However I would say that the experience changes when you have kids! We have been on a flight with these bandits where by the time we got on the plane there were no seats available together, with 2 kids this is extremly stressful. In the end a kind couple agreed to split up so that I could sit next to my son! Based on that experience I am happy to pay a bit extra to secure seating. As for on voard catering well I think it should be branded Dick Turpin catering....

If you are flying with either Easyjet or Ryanair you get priority boarding if travelling with children. I have yet to have a problem with Ryanair and in June the lady came looking for me to board (youngest decided to use the loo as they announced boarding
) As previously mentioned all their terms are on the website. I never buy anything from them, just pack a couple of sandwiches and crisps for the kids and cartons of drinks, no problem.
