    Hi everyone,

I have been looking to hire a car for next year from the above company, i am trying to find out if they do a FULL/EMPTY policy, i have sent 2 emails to them and have recieved 2 different answers, the first one said they will supply it with a HALF tank and i bring it back empty, the second said if i take it with a FULL TANK i have to bring it back FULL TANK it is the same with HALF TANK return HALF TANK.

ps The website says they supply all cars with a FULL TANK and no mention of returning it full or empty.
    Can anybody help please.

Generally we use www.doyouspain.com as we often need a car at Alicante or Murcia airports.

You'll find that up to 3 days hire you will be able to get full / full fuel arrangements but over 3 days you will be asked for payment for a full tank & told to bring it back as near empty as possible.

We ask doyouspain to put us with Europa Gold Car rental as THEY do a FOUR day hire with full / full arrangement. (You pay upfront for car hire plus full tank then when you return car with a full tank they credit your card.

Apparently Record Rentacar doesn't charge you for petrol BUT we find they CAN be rather more expensive. You need to check out a few.

Hope this is of some help. :P

I have been using a few of the car hire places at Alicante Airport recently.
Record seem to be about the best, they dont charge you for the fuel, you bring it back the same as it went out, they also have a frequent hire club, with a points system.
Centauro seem to have the best cars and they also have some safety equipment in thier cars, triangle and jacket. They also dont charge you the fuel supplement. But if you dont take the extra insurance, they will debit the deposit 150 euros from your uk account, but you do get it back at the end of the rental.
I have tried Solmar and Europa car as well, its a full tank policy with them and bring it back empty, which is hopeless.

        Car Hire

Try email-car-hire.com they use Record cars but are cheaper and you bring the car back with the same amount of fuel as when picked up.

Just like to add, some of these middle men,eg holiday autos will debit your account as soon as you book the car.But if you deal direct with the hire companies on thier websites, you only get charged when you pick the car up,and can cancel, change the booking no problems.
I had a right job with holiday autos trying to cancel a booking, and they charged me a cancellation fee.

They virtually ALL insist on a full/empty fuel arrangement if the hire period is over 3 days so don't worry. In fact TRY getting them to give you full/full, it's just not possible except for Record, who are generally lots more anyway & only hire out of Alicante (We use Murcia mainly)

              Book the cheapest.

With www.carspain.com I would be concerned about this.

PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF AT THE AIRPORT
free of charge during opening hours (from 9am to 8pm). We allow a 2-hour grace period when returning your car. It is possible to deliver your car at the airport outside office hours (between 20.00 and 9.00) at an extra charge of 15 euros. There is no extra charge for returning your car outside office hours.

Here is a new twist : -we use carjet (another broker) and usually get Europa Goldcar or Centauro (same price). The advantage is they have Torre offices and you can pick-up airport drop off in Torre and vise versa on the return leg at no extra charge. There is the problem of full/empty, of course.
Since we go for 3-5 weeks, we have no car in the middle weeks - even more relaxing !

Hubby will kill me for disclosing this but hey, who knows me !

We were put with Europa Gold star this last trip as we insisted on having full/full for the 4 days & Europa do this. On taking the car back to Murcia hubby went to hand the keys back, tell them where he HAD to double park it & that he had filled tank up. He had nothing to prove he had filled tank up (we usually photograph the fuel guage as our proof.) They gave him nothing to say they would refund the 51 euros he was asked for when collecting the car but they said it WOULD be credited back that same day. I was rather rattled. So ... when we got home to UK I rang our visa company to check they HAD credited the 51 eu & they had.

NOW.. last month we were put with Centura & we were there a week (15 - 23) so didn't mind paying the 64 eu fuel charge (we were upgraded so petrol charge was more) Our visa company have TWO records for Centura. One was the 181 eu which was for the hire for the week plus the 64 eu fuel AND they ALSO had a CREDIT for 64 eu credited on 25/10 & we do not know WHY, but are we bovvered :P Odd it's EXACTLY the 64 eu fuel charge though
