  • Why these words?!

I know this is a bit sad, but I have noticed something that I dont quite understand. Firstly, why do Spanish learner cars have a big "L" on top of them, as the British ones do? Obviously the L in England stands for "Learner" but this is not the same word in Spanish. Also, why do a lot of junctions in Spain have "STOP" on them? Surely not just for the benefit of us Brits, as it is on roads throughout Spain where there aren't many British!I would be interested to know the answers to the above (sad I know!)

    Hi
I do know the answer to one of your questions the word STOP is now used all over europe I believe, so everyone understands, if you are old enough you will remember england used to have HALT and not stop, so we had to change too.

Sorry don't know about the learner L although it could be the same reason.

    Wendy
