I am having problems with the wireless connection on a (white) Telefonica Comtrend router. My desktop connects via enthernet with no problem at all
and the laptop says that I have a 100% connection but I am unable to open explorer
I have pressed the reset button on the router for 4 seconds as it says in the instructions and checked the TCP/IP settings. Can anyone pleease shed some light on this for me?

Try changing the channel for the wireless connection. You should be able to get at this by typing 192.168.1.2 (I think) into Explorer, which should open up the settings for the wireless box. I had trouble with mine - changed to another channel and no problems. My laptop and Desktop now even act as a proper network, which I couldn't do before.

When you say you cannot open explorer, do you mean you get 404 error page not found?
Have you added the encryption key, if yes then try the below.
If changing channel does not help, try this;
Go to Run, type cmd then press enter.
In the black dos box type ipconfig/all and make sure you have an entry for DNS and a default gateway, will look like your IP address, the gateway should be your router address (ie *.*.*.*)
If they look ok open explorer and type in the url window http://64.233.167.99 which is one of the real addresses for google.com.
If that works its your DNS from your router, if not from within the dos box type tracert 64.233.167.99 and press enter, that will trace a route to google and tell you where it fails, without a gateway it will fail at your router.
If you have a gateway listed, type the ip address of your gateway into the explorer url and see if you can talk to the router via wireless.
Most wireless issues are down to invalid wep keys, or bad DNS or gateway addressing.
Let me know what you get from the above.
regards
Phil
