Does anybody know if a Freeview set-top box from the UK will work in Spain? Our community used to have analogue TV but this has apparently been stopped and we have been left with no television at all. As we are only there a couple of weeks during the year we don't want the expense of the full Sky digital package and were wondering whether Freeview might at least provide a couple of channels for us to watch. We have both a microwave aerial and a satellite dish on our roof, left by the previous owners.

Appreciate any help you might be able to give.

Sorry Chriss Freeview doesn't work out here. Neighbours brought their box over and it wouldn't work. Have you tried asking Cine or ring one of the guys who advertise in the freebie papers or Paul on the other site if they have any second hand boxes for the micro mesh TV may work out cheaper

we've just come back from a few weeks there & seen a satellite system in Brico House (opposite water tower) claiming to give all freeview channels for a cost of about 180e!

checked again just before we left & they'd gone but they were def there - anybody else seen/used them?

they had BBC, ITV logos etc... on the box - a mate of mine who use to run a satellite business reckons no way would it have worked but then would a proper shop (where you can get refunds!) like that bother to sell them?

Try Superbeam. I think they advertise paying for only the time you are there.
They advertise regularly in the free press.

i checked the freeview boxes out last year - they do show all of the bbc channels on the box but I got professional advice and was told that you could only get Spanish freeview plus a couple of English language such as CNN also Polish programmes!

Best to get a micro system here and swallow the cost. We pay 19 euros a month but for that you get a lot of stuff and also the radio stations R2 R4 etc.

A very informative and interesting posting.

Have you any idea if Talksport radio is available on this system?

I am down in September and may well contact you to have a system installed in place of my micro system.
