  • Car paperwork

We are in the process of buying a new car, we wish to sell our old one privately.
Does anyone know the relavent paperwork the new owner needs to have with them once money has been handed over/they have car - whilst the re-registering of the car ownership is being done?
Have heard they need a written letter from us the owners/seller to say they have our permission to drive our car whilst the paperwork is being completed???!!
How do we go about getting the ownership changed? Who do we contact first? How much does this cost and who pays, the buyer or the seller?
    First time doing this!

To sell a car here is not easy!!!!
first you need to fill in a contract of COMPRA-VENTA you being El VENDEDOR and the buy EL COMPRADOR It has to be n Spanish so Sonthing like this,
To Do the sale privately (No gestorias)
Yo (Your Name) con NIE (your id number) Vendo el coche (Make of car) Con Matricula (Reg Number) Y numero de bastidor (Chasis number) a (Name of Buyer) con DNI (Id Number) por la cantidad de (The price( Euros,
Fecha y Firma (Date and Signature of Both)
Have 2 copies of this one for you and one for the buyer, Make sure you SUMA is paid with this you both need to go to Hacienda and pay the appropriate taxes of sale based on what the car is worth and then go to trafico and pay another tax and wait!!!!! if both party go there then you can complee the sale in 1 day, if only 1 party goes there with all the origanal documents (Includng your residencia or NIE and Passport)It can take up to 2 weeks. Or you could go to a gestoria and get it done for about 180Euros + Car tax

    Regards,
    Matthew

Recommend you contact Amanda Braun at 625-864-373 or
      carregcostablanca@hotmail.com
. Know the wrinkles in the Spanish system also has friends at Trafico which is a plus.

Can highly recommend Amanda, she's done a couple of transfers for us, and her husband's just fixed my brakes!! That said, I know she's away for a couple of weeks.

You can go to the TUV office in Torrevieja, as long as you have all the paperwork - contract (form is downloadable), copies of passport/NIE/evidence that Suma is paid, etc - it tells you on the form what you need. Give everything to the man, he will tell you how much the tax is from his little book, then he will give the purchaser a temporary Permiso to keep in the car until the new one arrives. He always says 2 weeks, but our last transfer took nearly 4 months!!!
