A friend of mine who is working in Spain, his girlfriend has just found out she is pregnant, she is here with him for next couple of months with a view to possibly staying. Any advice regarding maternity care would be greatly appreciated. Any advice or information is welcome.

IF she has been working in the uk then she may be entitled to her ni credits transfering over to spain, only do this is she is staying though. If her fella is working here legally on a contract or registered as self employed he can add her to his social security this way she will be entitled to the medical facilities. I have heard that the maternity in the new torre hospital is great.
If he wants to add her to the social security then he should see his accountant or employer to get her added on. When the baby is born he/she can also be added on. I am self employed and my accountant arranged for my family to be on my ss.
Hope this helps with this side of things as for the healthhcare I can only go on what I have heard and all positive, thing is if you are not on the system you will have to pay 1000 euros to have the baby in the new hospital. -
