  • Help needed on Area

    Hi all,

WE are moving to CB in January and My daughter is in the process of being enrolled for Mar Azul School. any feedback on school would be great!!! as still not spoken to anyone who has children attending this school...
WE are taking a trip over to look at surrounding Area's in October without Kids.
I wont have a car to start with so will need to walk and bus it all the time.
I have been looking at villas in Los Altos/Balcones, Playa Flamenca and Zenia but its soooooo confusing working from a google map. and with having another 6 weeks till I can get over I just feel I am going round in circles.
I would love to hear from people who live in the areas to give me an idea of what life is like - transport, the school, the people, the bars etc etc.

I heard the school will have moved out of Torrevieja by Sept and its more toward San Miguel but I am not sure where exactly which is making choosing an area quite hard.

any advise and info on areas, and how far away everything is, would be SO MUCH appreciated.... :P

If you don't have a car and your daughters school is going to be in San Miguel you don't have a choice you will have to buy or rent in San Miguel or pay for a taxi there and back. Alternatively she could cycle along the canal from Villa Martin I wouldn't recommend this on her own.
To be perfectly honest you are going to find life very difficult without your own transport suggest you make this your top priority.

someone told me the school is a 15 min walk from Los Balcones, so thats why I am looking in that area and also Los altos.
To be honest, we will be living for a start as non residents and I dont think we can actually buy a car can we???
I read on another forum about buying cars and it sounded quite complicated. I dont want to fly straight into residency as soon as I get out as I have never done this before and you just never know what might happen.
Thats the reason I am trying to find out from people who know the area and exactly where the school is located and that way I can work it from there.

Is Balcones/Altos area miles from anything else? Can you walk to Playa Flamenca from theses areas?

It depends on what part of the 2 areas you mentioned you would be walking from as it could easily take you 15/20 mins. to walk from one end of Los Balcones to the other. From Los Altos to Playa Flamenca Beach could take 20 mins. then another 15 to Playa Flamenca Town Hall then another 10 mins. to the promenade. As for a car lots of people have a car but are not resident so don't worry about that but you will need an NIE number
Best thing to do is come out and have a good look round and in your case walk round. When you do come out permanently you could always fetch your UK motor out and run it for 6 months or so whilst you get yourself sorted with a Spanish one
