Buying a Car in Spain

Now my husband is retired we will be visiting Spain more often, probably for about 6 months of the year, 1-2 months at a time.

We have previously hired a car from Alicante via Carjet (we live in Playa Flamenca) but this is proving to be rather expensive.

Could any members please give us an idea of cost of buying a small car, tax, insurance etc. As parts of Spain are rather isolated do they have the equivalent of AA or RAC.

If it is expensive to buy do any companies specialise in long term hire. Any help would be appreciated.

If you can afford it buy new as second hand cars tend to be more expensive than they are in the UK because they hold their value better. When you take out insurance you get breakdown cover also.
