  • Bus Alameda del Mar --> Torrevieja/Habaneras

    Hello all,

I have often used this forum as a source of useful information, but the info I am seeking now I have not managed to find. I am without means of transport, beyond my own legs, and I wish to get to the Habaneras center. I am relatively close to the roundabout on the N332 between the Lidl and Supercor, where the Alameda del Mar sign is. From what I understand there is a bus that goes from there to Torrevieja, but my questions are: which bus? Where is the bus stop? And which bus stop should I get off at? I don't mind walking a lil' bit if it's easier to get off somewhere in town and walk to Habaneras.

I have looked at bus routes on the web (http://www.costazul.net/Lineatpttorreviejaingles.htm), but haven't managed to deduce which one line I should take.

Oh and it appears the buses travel in circles - so presumably on the return trip I'd get on at the same station I got off, at the same side of the road, and experience a whole different more or less scenic route back?

As I want to go "tomorrow" (Saturday), I am hoping for some swift, helpful responses!

    Cheers

PS. On a second note - I may buy a bicycle, perhaps at the sports store at Habaneras. Any suggestions as to a (safe) cycle route back?

Never mind. With some general idea of where to get on and the help of friendly British strangers, I found my way - probably not the most effective way, but I made it there and back.

Bus Alameda Del Mar to Habernaras

        Hi, Foudre,

That's weird I was going to ask the exact same question as i too would like to do the same journet when I come over in a few days. How did you get there and back in the end? I heard there is a bus to Torrivieca hourly from La Zenia roundaabout and near the Punta Prima roundabout. Hopefully some-one will able to tell us if not I will find out when I come over

          Hello, Dream,

Nice little coincidence there. I walked along N332 from the roundabout that I spoke of in the first post, the one by Alameda del Mar/Lidl/Supercor towards Torrevieja until I got to the next roundabout, the one with the intertwined "fingers", crossed the street (over to the ocean-side of N332) and went down the right turn of the roundabout. The street is called Av. de las Olas, I think: see map. About a block down that street you see a bus stop on the left hand side, but the bus stops on the right hand, where you'll see people converge. If I understood the helpful couple right, the bus comes in once an hour, approximately on the hour.

I probably could and should have taken the bus further than I did, but I got off with the couple I met so that they could show me the way to go (hence why I said I probably did not go the most effective way). It was probably the 3rd or 4th stop, I believe I got off close to the green arrow on this map, possibly on Av. de Desiderio Rodriguez, as the bus has two stops on that street. From there I walked up to the Parc des Nacions, with the dinosaur, and the roundabout after that (top middle of the map I just linked to), and from there you see Las Habaneras and Carrefour on the other side of the N332. From Alameda del Mar to the bus stop it was about 1.8 km to walk, from where I got off to Habaneras it was about 2 km.

On the way back I did not get on where I got off (but I got off where I got on, ie. near the roundabout with the two "fingers"), but close - slightly shorter walk (and the bus ride was quite short too, 5-10 mins). On the last map I linked to above, it might be an idea to click on "satellite" to get satellite imagery. Then click on the plus-sign to zoom in once. Near the bottom left you see the street Calle de Urbano Arregui. Unless I am reading and remembering all wrong, I got on the bus at a bus stop which is right where the capital "A" is in "Arregui". You see the small, square building right above the "A"? If I'm getting this right, then on the side of that building you'll see it says "guardia civil". The bus came at about 30-35 minutes past the hour.

The bus was Line D, which you can find in pink here.

So that's the seemingly complicated, but really rather easy when you've done it once, way I did it. I'm going to print out a couple of maps from Google Maps for my own sake for next time, just to have them if I were to get lost. I was told by the friendly couple that I could get the bus timetables, with a map on the backside, from the tourist offices in Torrevieja - I just need to get there first...

However, with all of the above said, I notice that Line D stops on Calle Orihuela, near Colegio Inmaculada. I have no idea where on Calle Orihuela that is and C. Orihuela is fairly long, but it still looks like that would be the easiest stop to use, as C. Orihuela goes into the road that crosses the N332 to Habaneras.

I hope the above helps you on your way - and I hope even more that someone else will come on here and let us know what is truly the easiest and most effective way!

The other buses that pass that way, as Beastess mentions, are at:
