  • estate agent commisions

My parents are going to put there house up for sale in Los Dolses, nr villamartin and would like to know how much commision do estate agents charge,as i keep hearing some really scary stories.
Would i be right in thinking that if your house was sold say for 200,000Euros, that they would take their cut first or do they give you a seperate bill at the end?
They were thinking of using Oceanside on La Zenia roundabout, so if anybody have got any views on them let me know.

The way it usually works here is that your parents would agree a price they wanted to receive for their property and then the agents would add their comission on top of that. So effectively your parents wouldn't be paying anything, the buyer would be.

Sounds as though the house could be on sale at different prices depending on the agent's mark up ?

Negotiate the commission. Nothing is fixed in tablets of stone. When I bought I negotiated with the agent and he agreed that I could have half his commission he got from the builder.
