Landline telephone - Connection Questions

We have recently completed on a property and the previous owner has taken his phone and number. I am just about to re-apply to get connected. My questions are
1. Do I have to accept their phone + rental charges that may incur or
2. Can I supply my own phone and if so?
3. Will a UK landline phone work in Spain and
4 .Are the plug in connections the same

Let us know how you get on with Telefonica re-connecting your line as many people currently suffer from 'nolineitus' caused by Telefonica stating either there are no lines available, there are no telephone numbers available or that this year starts with a 2...

Of course there is now competition in the area to the former Telefonica monopoly so maybe you should also look to one of these such as Telycom for an alternative option.

I had a telephone connected a couple of weeks ago.
Went into Telefonica shop on Friday and the engineers installed the phone the following Thursday.
Quicker than BT.
A friend of mine recently had to wait 4 weeks for BT to connect her line and that was only a reconnection

As mine is classed as a reconnection (The previous owner took his phone and number) I have been told it will only take two days from applying (but am not holding my breath) Will let you know how I get on

Mikea, we have a house in La Regia/Villa Piedra (take your pick on who sends us mail) and are currently on Telefonica for landline, Europa network for phone calls and Ya.com for internet access. We would dearly love to go onto adsl (more because my hubby keeps leaving the internet on so therefore no phonecalls!!) Do you supply adsl to La Regia/Villa Piedra? If so please can you give me a quote for installing adsl and how much it is per month.

urgent for mikea

hi mate long time no speak I have been trying to contact you regarding internet solutions. As you know I moved into the country before Xmas and although there is a line into my property they tell me they cannot connect as there is no capacity.

I cannot get a mobile signal and getting into an internet cafe is a nightmare.
If you can offer any help could you pass information through Vikingette as I am in constant contact with her and maybe would could meet up for a chat.

Anything that you could suggest would be great as currently I am unable to work and obviously from a financial point of view this is not ideal.
