German sat dish

Hi All

On our apartment we have a 90cm sat dish which at the moment only gets us german t.v

is it possible to connect a sky box to this dish and pick up ANY english t.v not fussed what it is at the moment just some english news would do. Can't afford those rip off prices for digi t.v at the moment.

Hi, I had this problem and found this :

1 You are probably tuned to Astra 1 group which is at 19 degrees east (relative to Greenwich). You can get BBC World on this Sat. Press Services and Setup to tune manually. Change the frequency to 11597, Vertical, 2200 5/6 (FEC) and then search. When it finds the channels, mark them by pressing the yellow button and then press select to save them. You can then view manually tuned channels by pressing Services and Other Channels.

2 To get more UK channels you need to point the dish to 26 degrees east i.e. turn it slightly further east. This is Astra 2 group which has the UK TV; you can receive some in Spain.

3 For all the frequencies , have a look at http://www.lyngsat.com/index.html

Just for anyone else that reads this in the future - if your Sky digibox says "no satellite signal is being received" it probably means it can't get it's instructions from Sky (The Electronic programme Guide - EPG). The EPG tells the digibox the frequencies to tune to for each channel.

Try tuning it manually by entering the frequency etc. (Services, Setup etc)
