I have a neighbour here on Torreta 3 who is being driven mad by barking dogs. Within 50 metres of his house there are 11 dogs barking day and night. One house has four dogs (yes, in a Torreta bungalow!!). With the exception of one house, the owners are Spanish. The exception is an English owned house, and they leave their dogs to roam about the estate while they are out. Fortunately, because of the way my house faces, I'm not disturbed by the barking unless the wind is in the wrong direction, but my neighbour cannot get away from the noise, and it has got so bad he is planning to sell up. I advised him to go to the Guardia and make a denuncia, but he has been told that the Guardia will only shrug their shoulders and do nothing. Can anybody out there tell us what the law is on barking dogs (I am talking about barking through the night as well)? Is there an environmental health law here? Where could my neighbour go for advice? It seems such a shame that someone is being so disturbed that the only alternative they can see is to sell up. Please help.

I am no expert on this but we have had a dog problem on our urb (Villa Don Sancho V) One resident told me that he had gone to the town hall in Orihuela Costa and spoken to someone there who then arranged for the policia to visit.
Maybe this would be a good starting point. There are laws regarding dog ownership in Spain.
