English Driving License

I have been told that from next month you must have a medical examination if you are driving with a UK license. Has anyone heard this or has anymore information?

This has been the subject of much discussion here and on other forums - it is certainly mandatory if you switch to a Spanish licence. However if you remain on the UK version (which must be the ID sort not the old green job) then according to the solicitor who works in the Torrevieja Foreign residents office (by the town hall) it is not a legal requirement to take the health check. To be honest (I have gone to the Spanish licence) the test is very straight forward its an eye test not a medical check up and by having it you do have the extra guarantee of legality.

Someone told me yesterday that it was in one of the local papers (they weren't sure which one), that from next month, it was mandetory to now have this medical exam if you are driving on the UK one.

They went for it...... Was asked if they were on any medication?... 'No'......., Do you need glasses for driving?..... 'No'..... Ok, 45 euros and stamped the form............... All Done!!!

Yes I think if you can manage to walk in - you pass!

The obligatary medical exam for non comercial drivers is just an hearing and an eye test (unless its changed since I renewed my license)

As Robi said. Its pretty easy. and its to make sure no deaf or blind people gets behind the wheel. In case you are very shortsighted you might get a clause in your driving license saying that you can only drive with glasses.
